How do I transfer my car to Malaysia?


1. For Malaysian students and Malaysian residents in Australia planning to return home, the following criteria apply:

2. The vehicle must be registered in the name of the person returning home and be owned for at least 9 months.

3. Insurance on the vehicle for at least 9 months must be in the name of the person returning home.

4. The owner should have a valid driver's license (a provisional license holder will not be allowed to take a car back to Malaysia).

5. Owner must have lived/studied in Australia for more than a year and be returning home permanently.

6. Relevant import duty and excise tax will be imposed according to current schedule.

An import license must be obtained from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry by completing Form JK 69 (Pindaan) 9/84 before exporting the vehicle from Australia to Malaysia. Your application must be accompanied by original or certified copies of: 1) Passport; 2) Car registration documentation; 3) Insurance certificate.
